South India Religious and Historical Tour


The proposed tour program goes as under: Day 01: Arrival Chennai from Malaysia

On arrival at Chennai International airport meet & greet by our representative. Later transfer to your hotel. Rest day free for relax or enjoy optional activity. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Chennai

Morning after breakfast visit Church, Fort and Marina beach. Evening free for relax. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 03: Chennai /Mahabalipuram (Enroute visit Kanchipuram)

Morning leave Chennai proceed for Mahabalipuram. Enroute visit Kanchipuram, a famous temple town in South India. Later drive to Mahabalipuram. On arrival Mahabalipuram check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Shore Temple, Arjuna's temple, Ganesh Ratha, Trimurti, Cave Temple, Madapams, Five rathas and Beach. Overnight Stay at hotel.

Day 04: Mahabalipuram/Pondicherry


Morning leave Mahabalipuram proceed for Pondicherry. On arrival Pondicherry check in at hotel. Later visit world famous Arbind Ashram. Sri Aurobindo who began the practice of Yoga in 1905 developed a new system of mind development and named it as Integral Yoga. Madame Mirra Richard, a French painter-sculptor, popularly known as 'Mother' here, joined him later. It highlights the flower-decked marble 'samadhi' and men and women meditate with their eyes fixed on it. The pin-drop silence here offers peace and soothes our nerves. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 05: Pondicherry / Chidambaram-Kumbakonam-Velankanni


Morning leave Pondicherry proceed for Velankanni. Enroute Visit Chidambaram - Chidambaram, one of the major Hindu pilgrimage places famous for Nataraja Temple. It is one of the oldest temples of Tamil Nadu. The temple is located in the heart of the city and covers an area of 40 acres. Towering at over 40 metres in height, the temple roofs are covered with gold plates. The presiding deity in the temple is Akasha Lingam and is represented by air, one of the five elements of the universe. Kumbakonam - Kumbakonam is one of the oldest places in South India and was the capital of the Cholas kings in the 7th century. The rivers Kaveri (Cauvery) and Arasalar flow on the two sides of Kumbakonam. There are about 18 temples in the center of town dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva. There is also a rare Brahma temple here.
Later drive to Velankanni. On arrival Velankanni check in at hotel. Velankanni is considered as "Mecca of South Asian Christianity”. It is renowned to cure sicknesses and maladies, thus also known as the 'Lourdes of the East'. Velankanni is the site of the Roman Catholic Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. Thousands of Christian pilgrims file through the impressive white Neo-Gothic structure, which was elevated to the status of basilica in 1962, during the Pope’s visit. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Velankanni/Thanjavur


Morning leave Velankanni proceed for Thanjavur. On arrival Thanjavur and check in at hotel. Afternoon half day city tour of famous temples. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 07: Thanjavur/Trichi


Morning after breakfast leave Thanjavur proceed for Trichi. On arrival Trichi check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Rock and Thousand of pillar temples. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08: Trichi/Madurai


Morning leave Trichi proceed for Madurai (Temple city). On arrival Madurai and check in at hotel. Afternoon visit world famous Meenakshi Temple & Tirumalai Nayak Palace. Overnight at hotel.

Day 09: Madurai/Rameshwaram


Morning leave Madurai proceed for Rameshwaram. On arrival Rameshwaram check in at hotel. Afternoon visit famous Lord Shiva temple. Back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 10: Rameshwaram/Kanyakumari


Morning leave Rameshwaram proceed for Kanyakumari. On arrival Kanyakumari check in at hotel. Later visit Cape Comorin local temples & Vivekananda rock. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11: Kanyakumari/Kovalam (Enroute Visit Suchindram)

Morning leave Kanyakumari proceed for Kovalam 16 KM before Trivandrum. Enroute visit Suchindram Temple –This is a temple dedicated to the three chief Hindu Gods, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. While Brahma stands for creation, Shiva stands for destruction and Vishnu stands for balance in nature. This temple has two interesting legends associated with it. This 134 feet temple of Suchindram is architecture of amazing dexterity and endeavor. The whole of the front face of the temple covered with sculpting from the Hindu mythology. On arrival Kovalam check in hotel. Rest day free for relax. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 12: Kovalam


Rest day free for relax on sea beach. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 13: Kovalam/Alleppey –Kumarakom


Morning after breakfast leave Kovalam proceed for Alleppey to board on Houseboat, enter the enchanting waters of the vembanad lake… enjoy the panoramic views and the glimpses of life along the banks. Overnight stay on Houseboat.

Day 14: Kumarakom /Cochin


After b/fast depart houseboat proceed for Cochin. On arrival Cochin check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Dutch Palace, Fort Cochin, Jewish Synagogue and beautiful Sun Set at Chinese Fishing Nets. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 15: Cochin/Ooty

Morning leave Cochin proceed for Ooty through the beautiful way of Coimbatore. On arrival Ooty and check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.


Day 16: Ooty


Morning Visit Lake and garden. Rest of the day free for relax or enjoy optional activity. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 17: Ooty / Mysore


Morning leave Ooty proceed for Mysore. On arrival Mysore check in at hotel. Afternoon visit to Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, Srirangapatnam. Evening visit to Brindavan Gardens. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 18: Mysore/Bangalore


Morning leave Mysore proceed for Bangalore. On arrival Bangalore check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Vidhan Sabha, Botanical garden, Fort & Tipu Sultan Palace. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 19: Bangalore/Tiruvanamalai


Morning after breakfast leave Bangalore proceed for Tiruvanamalai. Tiruvanamalai is a famous holy town and the most scared pilgrim center of Hindus in the south India region. The city has about 100 temples .This holy town is the home of highly revered ashram of the mystic saint Sri Ramana Maharshi and the famous Arunachala temple - this temple had long history beginning from 750 AD. It is one of the five Panchabhoota (five elements wind, water, fire, earth and space) Stalams. This is the abode of the fire, one of the five elements constituting the whole life as per Hindu mythology. This temple has imposing Gopurams and inviting architectural beauty.

On arrival Tiruvanamalai check in at hotel. Evening visit Ashram of the mystic saint Ramana Maharshi. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 20: Tiruvanamalai


After morning breakfast visit Ashram, Arunachala temple and other famous temples. Overnight stay at hotels.


Day 21: Tiruvanamalai/Vellore


Morning after breakfast leave Tiruvanamalai proceed for Vellore. Vellore is located on the banks of River Palar and is considered a historical city. The name Vellore which means city of spears itself suggests that this city was a battle field and has witnessed many wars. This also means that Vellore has seen many rulers come and go. You will see the evidence in many structures and ruins that are constructed in different styles, although Dravidian civilization is the most prominent of all.

On arrival Vellore check in at hotel. Later visit Vellore Fort - Vellore Fort, built by the Nayakar a chieftain of the Vijayanagar Empire is completely built of granite blocks. It was built in the 16th century and frequently exchanged hands between various strong empires. Jalakanteshwara Temple - Temple was built in 1550 AD. This was a masterpiece at the time of its construction. The temple is within the fort complex and the walls of the temple are full of carvings of Nandi and small Gopurams. Muthu Mandapam – This is also called the 'Pearl Palace'. It is a memorial, which is built around the tombstone of the last Kandy Tamil ruler, Vikramraja Singh. It is situated just steps away from Vellore town towards north and is built on the bed of River Palar. Government Museum- Museum has collection from many fields like anthropology, art, archeology, pre-history, botany, and geology. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 22: Vellore/Tirupati


Morning leave Vellore proceed for Tirupati, the holy city known as the abode of the Hindu god ‘Venkateswara’. Tirupati is famous for the Venkateswara temple in the sacred Tirumalai hills at an elevation of 860m. One of the most important pilgrimage centers in India, the temple draws millions of pilgrims and is believed to be the busiest pilgrimage centre in the world. On arrival Tirupati check in at hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 23: Tirupati/Chennai

Morning visit Sri Venkateswara Temple -The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara is located on the seventh peak, Venkatachala (Venkata Hill) of the Tirupati Hill. He is also called the Lord of the Seven Hills. The temple of Sri Venkateswara has acquired unique sanctity in Indian religious lore. The Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatyams and Alwar hymns unequivocally declare that, in the Kali Yuga, one can attain mukti, only by worshipping Venkata Nayaka or Sri Venkateswara. All the great dynasties of rulers of the southern peninsula have paid homage to Lord Sri Venkateswara in this ancient shrine. The Pallavas of Kancheepuram (9th century AD), the Cholas of Thanjavur (a century later), the Pandyas of Madurai, and the kings and chieftains of Vijayanagar (14th - 15th century AD) were devotees of the Lord and they competed with one another in endowing the temple with rich offerings and contributions.

Back to hotel for check out. Later drive to Chennai. On arrival Chennai check in at hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 24: Chennai Depart


In time transfer to International Airport connect flight to onward destination.
